The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a reputation for being one of the safest and most dependable trucks on the market. With its high safety ratings, it's no wonder that many people are choosing this truck as their new family vehicle. We're going to take a look at some of the more popular safety features offered with the Silverado 1500 lineup: StabiliTrak, Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Forward Collision Alert (FCA), and Rear Vision Camera (RVC).

The StabiliTrak system has been standard on the Silverado since 2007. This system is used to help drivers maintain control during severe situations such as evasive maneuvers or hydroplaning. It basically uses the ABS work in conjunction with the powertrain to assist you in maintaining a safe speed and staying within your lane if needed. The advantage to this is that if the system detects a loss of steering control it will activate to help you straighten out your truck before something happens.

The LDWS and FCA were both introduced in 2010 and use sensors and cameras to determine what is happening around your vehicle. While these systems share some similarities, they also have their differences as well.
